I like icons better but thats just my opinion.I've never really seen much typography.

I think they're both cool, I like typography for siggies, mixed with a cool icon for an avvie, I think they go good together (:

I have to say icons.
Simple, small, cute, and effective.
i like them better, not too overwhelming. Just a short message in a way.(:
