How to make beams on Gimp 2.6!

Step 1:: Open up the picture you want to put beams around

Step 2:: Create a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N)

Step 3:: Select Path Tool

Step 4:: Create rings around picture (picture below explains more...)

Step 5:: Filters>Alpha Logo>Neon

Step 6:: leave effect size (pixels) and background color alone. But change glow color to the color you want and then click OK

Step 7:: Delete Background

Step 8:: Merge down Neon Tubes to Neon Glow

Step 9:: Select Eraser tool and erase every other line

Step 10:: Merge down and Save.

How to make the beams a gradient color

Follow steps 1-8

Step 9:: select blend tool

Step 10:: Select gradient you want beams to be colored

Step 11:: look at mode on the top under blend (look at example...more specific) it should be set to normal but change it to Hue

Step 12:: click on the top of you beam and drag it to the bottom and let go.

Step 13:: It should be the color gradient you want.

Remember Practice makes Perfect, making beams takes practice and patience so if it doesn't turn out perfect the first time try again!
