How To Make An Image Transparent
How To Make An Image Transparent
So you're sitting there, looking at our lovely banner, and your thinking....
"How the HECK did she put all of those BABV characters on that awesome background?!"
Well wonder no more, because Emily, is here to help ;] Just follow this easy step by step tutorial!
In this tutorial I will:
1.) Teach you the first step in making a BABV graphic.
2.) Give a simple 3 step guide in making the background of any image transparent using the program Gimp 2.6
3.) Answer any questions you have [:
✄- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Step 1.
Choose your image.
In this tutorial, I will be using a simple picture of my BABV character
**MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PICTURE HAS A BLANK BACKGROUND!**
**MAKE SURE THAT THE BACKGROUND COLOR IS A COLOR THAT ISN'T ANYWHERE CLOSE TO ANYTHING IN YOUR OUTFIT/SKIN COLOR!**
Step 2.
Open up Gimp.
Then roll over the Layer icon and click on where it says transparency.
Then click on where it says, Add Alpha Channel.
Step 3.
Make your image transparent.
After adding doing Step 2, You need to choose your tool.
So many tools to choose from right? Well go ahead and click on the Fuzzy Select Tool (The Magic Wand)
Next, you need to click anywhere in the background of your image, and it should give you an outline of everything.
Then after it outlines everything, go ahead and either press the Delete button on your keyboard, OR
Go to the Edit menu, and click Clear.
After doing this your image should look somewhat like this:
If your image looks like that, then you have done it correctly [:
Now you're done! Great job!
Make sure to go to the File menu, and then Save As.
**MAKE SURE TO SAVE AS A .png IF YOU WANT A CLEAR IMAGE**
Step 4.
Show me what you made!
I wanna see if this tutorial helps YOU, so why not show me an example in a comment below? [:
Thanks for reading, and for those of you who asked me to do this tutorial, tell me what you think!
Questions? Comments? Suggestions?

Also, give me more suggestions on what types of tutorials you would like me to post!

Re: Em's Tutorials♡//How To Make An Image Transparent
This is my first time using Gimp to make an image transparent x].
It didn't turn out as great as I expected it to.
I usually use lunapic, and that turns out pretty good.

Thanks so much!
Btw, I have 2 questions.
Is Gimp free?
Do we open our picture in paint? If not, Please tell me what program to open it on.

I had to figure this out by myself, when I was learning to use GIMP.
